Blue Hill Diaries: Weekend Fun

Two late nights out in a row is rough.. especially when one of them involves too many martinis and a mommy friend who didn't quite make it through the night. I will leave the details of the very fun evening to everyone's imagination, but it's been a good weekend, especially when the third night out involved Kian's Godfather and his wife, making a visit.

Backing up a bit to the first night, I went out for a team dinner with my colleagues. Luckily, all my colleagues are big time foodies as well so we planned the date based on when we could get a reservation at the restaurant we were all dying to go to. Les Chaterelle in Yoyogi... a quaint and cozy modern French restaurant which opened last July and tables still almost impossible to get unless it's a month in advance. The month wait was definitely worth it. I would never be too excited about having a salad as a middle course, but this one was topped with homemade pate, smoked salmon, marinaded scallops, proscuitto, sea urchin, seasonal herbs and flowers, and more. Def. a party in my mouth.

Then on Saturday, we met with Kian's Godfather, BriBri and his wife, Lisa for our usual Korean BBQ. They are taking a year off to travel the world, and I was so envious when they were talking about a food tour they are taking in Italy, and then to Greece, and the Nordic countries, not to mention the side trips to Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, NY and LA. Lucky...

Kian was really shy at first but once he took a nap and had some dinner, he was loving BriBri.. and showing him all his trucks and toys. He even held Brian's hand and walked a few blocks to walk Brian to the train station. Kian NEVER wants to walk more than 1, maybe 2 blocks at the most. In any case, always good to see Brian and Lisa. We may not be here much longer so if anyone wants to make a last minute visit, give us a holler!
