Happy Holidays, sort of...

We've had to make some major changes to our holiday plans. Two days before we were scheduled to fly out to Israel via Istanbul, Kian was admitted to the hospital for cellulitis. Sounds like some fat person disease but it is actually a skin infection. He was scratching away at one of his impetigo scars and got an infection and his hand swelled up like a baseball glove. When we first went to the ER and the doctor suggested putting him on an IV of antibiotics, we were both on board and agreed since he had been dealing with impetigo for close two months off and on. We both thought he'd be admitted for few days and we'd just delay our trip or skip the Turkey part and go straight to Israel to see the family. When the Dr said "he'll probably be here for ten days to two weeks!" we both gasped and just looked at each other in shock. Partially because we didn't realize it would take this long but also realizing that our trip and Xmas REALLY wasn't going to happen.

Boy, I AM BORRRRRRRRRRRRRED!!

So long story short, we are spending the holidays here in Tokyo or to be more specific, at Hiroo Hospital. Super bummed that we won't be able to spend Xmas with the family but we will try to make the most of our holidays (our first time in Tokyo). More importantly, Kian is on the mend and doing much better. He wants to run around but we are limited to his room and with an IV drip 24/7, he's going stir crazy. We did laps in the room today and in his bed! and we've watched every episode of Yo Gabba one too many times.  But the good news is that he should be released by mid-week so fingers crossed.

Drawing and smiling. Thank goodness he's a lefty..
