Saturday outing

Busy Saturday for the Tokyo LG's. We headed off to my sister's for Coco's first Girl's Day celebration (Hina Matsuri) which falls on March 3rd every year. Its origins go back to China which had the custom of making a doll for the transferral of bad luck and impurities from the person, and then putting the doll in a river and forever ridding oneself of them. In Japan, it's celebrated on March 3rd and families with daughters put dolls with the hopes their daughters will grow up healthy and happy. The same version for boys takes place on May 5th.

This is not our family one.. but I remember having one like this when I was young.

Happy Girls' Day Coco!

The two cousins who are only 3 months apart poke and stare at each other all the time now. They'll soon be good buddies!

Kian's starting to crawl..

and sit up!

Japanese sweets to celebrate the day.. pink, girly and sweet!
Afterward, we headed off to a housewarming party for Mar's colleague. We discovered that Kian is scared of bald men (sorry, godfather Bri). There were two guys there who were bald (one of which is Mar's boss) and he cried every time he looked at either one of them. Funny....
